Dewy Elsinga - also known as BUTTERFINGAZ- is a 33-year old visual artist born, raised and based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Dewy's portfolio contains colorful murals (often commissioned), autonomous paintings, collages, prints and zines. The artist has been inspired by daily life situations, picturing random city stills, dissappearing landmarks and stores - due to gentrification - and personal memories of the city. Currently, the artist is also working on a series about nature.
Throughout her career, curiosity has played a big role in both the making process and the end results: learning the skill of painting during her internship at autonomous artist Stephan Bontje, Dewy has developed a love for op-art, color theory and experimenting with brushes, leading to a style that resides between abstract and figurative to invite the viewer to confront the world around them with that same curiosity.
Other sources of inspiration are music, nature (climbing), documentaries, traveling and sociology - and everything else that makes an ADD's mind tickle.
